MCS, you're missing the point. I now have two of my four swords. One does fire damage (max at that), one does lightning damage (max again), and both add armor. Now for ice and whatever else I can dig up. Dunno' why you feel so damn angry towards the sword, but it is useful and it does look cool. I've had others on other accounts, but messed up and made them customized. These will be used by me for eons.

Also, not to stray from the topic, but I swear this game can tick me off at times. I spend a whole night looking for that sword and can't get crap, and waste several hours on it today, and then my friends and I have four drop for me in "The Scar" on the way to "Thirsty River", and all were mine. WTF?! None were max like my first one though

Since you're not even customizing them a max damage long sword that is customized would probably do more damage to any unit making your strategy obsolete.

I'm not trying to insult you I'm trying to tell you that FDS's suck.

Elemental damage is rather worthless anyway.

I had something similar happen to me as well. My first Fiery was a max gold with +1 Swordsmanship and +13% while in a stance. I have not had another max Fiery drop since, let alone a gold one. And I've gone through a lot of them. Usualy I just sell them off to the newer crowd or just give them away. I don't care to spend 2 hours sitting around waiting for a buyer for something thats not going to get me more than 1 or 2 plats.

Not when you combine them with Conjure Element spells, and the fire line also has Mark of Rodgort.

And FDS's just have a permanent 'fire hilt', beyond that its just another sword.

Realy, I don't see whats the big deal either way you slice it. It's not the greatest thing in the world, but its also not the worst thing you can have.

Well it just shows you either used the FDS wrong at one time, did not/do not know how to use it, or maybe just don't like it in general. I find that against ice beasts it does more damage than my lightning sword. It is useful in that aspect. Also, customization means no resale, it means your future characters cannot use it, and it means only 1~6 extra damage per hit. 20% of a standard 30hp hit is ONLY 6. Not enough to really matter, unless you're into PvP I guess.

Yeah both of mine are standard blue. I'd kill for a golden one! My ideal character, just to be buffed and look cool, would be golden swords, one for each elemental type. Doubt that will EVER happen, but one can hope. I also plan on saving the other FDS (14~20dam) for guild-mates. It'd be cool to have the guild use them one day to help train newbies and all. We'd stand out, so to speak.

Why would you have multiple warriors? What is the point? Only one char should ever have to use those swords.

re-sale is also pointless as the most you'd get for them would be like 1k if you're lucky. I don't know if 1k sounds like a lot to you or not but if it does then it won't once you get farther into the game.

The permnant fire hilt is why it sucks. Even for PvE there are far better uses for your energy than that. Conjure flame MAYBE because it lasts 60 seconds so you'll just recharge before you have to use it again but then you have to put all those points into fire for it to even matter.

Granted, fiery dragon swords can have a use. They are just like every other elemental weapon, and every good warrior will have an elemental weapon. While not the best choice of elements, FDS do elemental damage. In my opinion, it isn't as effective as a shocking sword because they can be used in conjunction with Iron Mist to potent effect.
I have no clue why you are all saying fiery dragon swords suck. Why don't you say fire damage on a sword sucks? It's not like the fiery dragon sword has an innate disability that a longsword can beat (other than the hilt is not changeable). If you need elemental damage and you like to use fire, go for a FDS, the model might appeal to you. If you are more PvP oriented, look for a different weapon that allows a broader range of customization, (namely hilt change)

Dunno why everyone is bashing on the fiery swords. More than half the groups my warrior is in does more dmg than any of the other warriors with their max dmg fellblades any junk. My sword is max dmg +12% while in stance.

I know a Fiery Dragon Sword isn't an end-all weapon but it still great use for the 12-16 level range. Use it on my Level 14 warrior and it's much better than the max damage axes I've been finding on my other character.

Baratus if you want a FDS I could just give you one. I have three at the moment. They're not that great though.

That's probably because you didn't have as many points in axe mastery as swordmanship. With swords you probably had the +1 helm, and a rune. Seeing as you don't normally use axes, I doubt you had a +1 axe helm and an axe rune.
Plus the fact that I'm just going to disagree with you. Axe > Sword.

I don't really care what sword you use, but using a FDS to show off? I won't be impressed.

And don't be so pissed about drops. Most likely you're going with henchmen, so no wonder you're not getting as many drops. And you get WAY more than 2-3%. Going solo, you get almost 1 drop a monster, so the percentage with 6 henchment would be closer to 16-17%.

whats with you people that say FDS suck? how do they suck seriously. think abou it. you said just get a longsword, its the same thing. ok, granted i IS the same thing, but then.. a fiery dragon sword looks COOl to some people. so would you get the same thing that looks ugly? or the same thing that looks cool. this is the same deal with chaos axes. why arn't people saying chaos axes suck? they are just 'glowy'... nothing special... right? in your logic, all weapons should look the same and do the same thing since obviously, whatever you think of weapons are right, and the best in your mind is obviously the best overall. This is a mmorpg essentially. where the look of your character, the weapons, shields, and gear he has that looks better, is 70% of the time the way people decide on what to buy.
People spend over a mil for fissure armor but why... it does the same thing as 15k armor.. and on the same note obviously.. why buy 15k armor.. it does the same as droknars armor.....

I love axes. Thing is that I don't even have enough points at the moment to even use the higher-end axes I find. Therefore I'm sticking with the sword until I have enough. Sometimes I regret having a Mesmer as a secondary. Also, no runes yet. Runes are a waste on low-end armour in my opinion.
